So...I Dyed My Hair!

Hi everyone! Sorry I've haven't posted anything in a while, it's been crazy. I've been packing and finishing my class. But once I got some free time, I decided, why not dye my hair? I've had my hair every natural color: red, brown, blonde, and black. So, this time I wanted to do something different. With the help of my mom, I dyed my hair purple.

If you are wanting to do the same, here is what I did.

Supplies:

-Bleach
-Manic Panic: Rockabilly Blue and Hot Hot Pink
-A mixing bowl
-A color brush
-An old towel
-Gloves
-An old t-shirt

Directions:

1.) After you get your supplies (All the hair dying supplies can be found at Sally's Beauty Supply), go ahead and put on an old t-shirt that you don't mind getting dye on.
---You can put the old towel around your shoulders if you would like to make sure you don't get dye on your neck---

2.) You can now bleach your hair, that is if you haven't already. Bleaching is not required but it can help hold the color and it make it more vibrant. As you can see from the picture above, the end of my hair was bleached already from my ombre I had down a month or so prior.

3.) Next, you want to put your gloves on and grab your mixing bowl and color brush. What I did to get this color purple, was mix two Manic Panic colors together. Those colors were Rockabilly Blue and Hot Hot Pink. Just mix the two colors together until you get the shade of purple you like.

4.) This step is pretty simple, just put the Manic Panic in your hair. The Manic Panic containers say don't put on scalp and 2 inches from the scalp. If you do, your scalp may turn purple.

5.) Once my mom had the color where I wanted, she put my hair up with a clip and then we put an old plastic bag (not pictured) on my hair to keep all together and not get dye on anything. I left the dye on my hair for about 45 mins. The container says from 30-60 mins.

6.) Next I just washed it out

Overall, the color came out nicely. The only thing I did not like is after like two or three washes, the color was still running in the water. Also after I dried my hair after it was done, it sort of turned everything blue, like my shirt, pillow case, and the couch. It was a fun hair dye that won't stay long in my hair. If I decided to go back to this color, I might get it done professionally because of the mess.

If y'all have any requests on what I should post, just let me know!

Love,

A
