New Year, New Faith?

CATHOLIC CHRONICLES: PART ONE

I know everyone gets tired of hearing the cliche'd "New Year, New Me!" after the beginning of the new year. But honestly, I am now one of those people.

This past year has been a rough one for me. I went through break ups, depression, quitting a job, and transferring to a new university. 2016 was more of a down year for myself. During 2016, I began to ask myself why I was always sad and envious of others. So I did something I haven't done in a long time, I prayed. I prayed to the lord to give me a sign or push me towards a glimpse of hope to help me out of my rut I've been going through. Sure enough, I received those signs.

I know, I know. Asking and actually receiving a sign from God himself is pretty out there, but it really did happen to me. Little things pointed me and directed me to a new faith that I so desperately needed. Those signs pointed me to the catholic faith.

My first sign I was given was at Easter. I was over at my grandparents house and my grandma, mother, and I were looking at old jewelry. My grandmother then brought over to me my great-grandmothers's medals of different saints and cross that she had gathered in her life as a catholic woman. Never seeing something like that before, I quickly became intrigued of what each one meant. As we were leaving, my grandmother pulled me aside and told me I could keep them.

Another sign to me was when I was looking for some earrings in my mother's jewelry box and I came across her pearl rosary. More and more signs were pointing me towards the catholic religion.

I began to research on the religion and I discovered that this was a great path for me. The more I researched and got in touch with the local Catholic Church in my town, the more things felt right. Everything was starting to make sense.

This past Sunday, January 1st to be exact, I woke up and got ready to attend mass. My mother and I attended the 8 o'clock mass at the church. Mass only lasted about an hour. During this, I got to observe what goes on and everything. At the end, the Father announced as a New Year/Christmas gift, every family would receive a copy of book called Resisting Happiness. This was perfect because that book was excatly what I needed. It helps you understand why we sabotage our happiness and how to find our own true happiness. We were also given a calendar with different saints for different months.

When I got in the car after mass, I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I could begin to feel my stress and troubles drifting away because I knew the lord had guided me back to him and that everything was going to be okay.

I still have a lot to learn, but I am excited to learn about my new found faith and share it with y'all.

Ready For Summer!

Hey everyone! It has really been a while! So here is an update for those who don't follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. I am currently not going to school right now, but you know, its okay though. I am in the process of trying to start my own photography business, so heres hoping! Well enough about that and more for why you are here: my outfit of the day! So I got this lovely dress from Rue21 and the hat from a store in Atlantic Beach called AB Surf Shop. If I remember correctly, the hat is from Billabong. But yeah, my friend and I went downtown for this photo op. Enjoy!

Thrifty Finds!

Hello lovelies! How are yall today?

I found some really cute tops at Goodwill the other day! Yep, you heard me. Goodwill. Most people think that Goodwill is just for old people, but if you take the time to look, you can find some really great things in there. Granted the Goodwill in Vegas where I used to live, had a little more name brand items versus the one currently in my small town. Apparently the grey shirt is from a England/European store, and the shirts are around 50-70 pounds or about $75-$105.

White Shirt: LC Lauren Conrad
Black Turtle Neck: Cherokee Clothing/ Target

New Hair!

Hello Lovelies!

Sorry its been a while! I've been busy with moving back to my home state and starting school again. Hopefully, during this upcoming winter break I will be able to get back into my blogging and vlogging for my Youtube channel.

An update for those who don't follow me on my social media accounts, I cut my hair and have gone blonde! A girl I used to work with a few years back did my hair at her new salon location. We did two sessions to go lighter for a balayage effect on my hair. I do also use the purple shampoo by Shimmer Lights to keep my hair on the cooler side and have an ashy tone to it. So here is the transformation!

Ballerina, firefighter, astronaut, or future president. When we were little, we all wanted to be something extraordinary and change the world. But as you get older, those dream jobs seem to be just that, dreams. For some kids, that dream lasts with them up into high school and even into college. Some are lucky and brave enough to follow their dreams and actually get a career that they always wanted. But what about the rest of us who don't know what they want to do or change their mind every other minute?

I know I am one of those souls who can't make up her mind. It's not that I don't know what I want to do, its that I want to do everything. On some days I want to travel the world and document all of its beauty, and on others, I want to be front row at a fashion show looking at my creation (or even walking the runway). I want to teach domestic and international classrooms, I want to dig for ancient remains and have a discovery of mine on display at a museum, I even want to study all the marine life and the mysteries the ocean has. So what does one do when they have a passion for everything?

I struggle with this everyday and so far it seems like my occupation will be a forever student, someone who will always be in school. I know that saying, "Pick something you love and you will never work a day in your life" should be changed to "Pick something you love and you will never work a day in your life because they probably aren't hiring" because that seems to be about right.

I just wish I knew what career/major would be the best fit for me. And then once I figure that out, knowing how to get a job with that field.

Another struggle is the high tuition prices of schools that keep rising. Why does the government make it harder to go to school by rising the prices of education? In my situation is that I received no financial aid and no scholarships to help with school. I was accepted by all types of schools, from public to private, and not one was going to help.

All in all, I would be grateful to have a crystal ball to tell me how things are going to end up or have some cosmic push towards what I should do.

Thank you all for letting me go on about this. It is something that has been bothering me for a while. If you too find yourself in this situation, tell me about it! I would love to hear from other people and know that I am not alone.

Best of wishes to everyone!

Love,

A

White Romper

Summer is a wonderful time to wear rompers! I got this cute white laced romper from a store called Ever back when I lived in Vegas. They always had the cutest clothes for the best prices!

I paired this white romper with a pair of brown wedges from Target. If you have noticed with some of my other posts, I wear these a lot. These are one of my favorite because they have cushion unlike some other wedges. I just wore a low bun for this look because it was very windy and hot out.

I also spent the day downtown with one of my best friends. It was good to walk around my hometown again. I just love that we are right next to this huge river! Maybe one day I'll go out and take some pictures around downtown!

Romper: Ever
Shoes: Target

Geometric Pattern Sundress

Hello my lovely readers! I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July! I know I did!

For this look, I wore a cute summer dress with a pair of cute sandals that I got from Ross. I LOVE that store by the way! For my hair, since it was hot out, I just braided both sides into a bun!

If y'all have any ideas of what you would like me to post, don't be afraid to let me know!
